The CrookBack Clinic

Bodywise Studio

3 Trenerry Square Weston ACT 2611

The CrookBack Clinic is one of the most popular seminar programs I conduct for corporate organisations. That's because at least 30% of people have some sort of musculo-skeletal dysfunction. Whilst some people are grinning and bearing, and don't let on about the discomfort, it knocks the shine off their day and their work.

Others are just waiting for a straw to lob on their back (at work) so they've got an excuse to slap a claim form on your desk.

Most of these people don't have an injury, they have a personally induced dysfunction. Click here to read more about the musculo-skeletal swiftie.

So that's what I do for groups.

HERE'S WHAT I AM NOW DOING FOR INDIVIDUALS

I've just started running one-on-one CrookBack Clinics aimed at helping people to work out the cause of their dysfunction. It's not difficult when you look at these diagrams.

Posture stooped due to tight calf, hamstring and buttock muscles

Classic sitting posture

Tight buttocks, can't sit up straight

Tight hamstrings, can't sit up straight

Painfully tight buttock muscles.

On top of that is a complete lack of strength. The number of people who can't do a sit up or a pressup is legion.

THE SYMPTOM

Musculo-skeletal pain is a symptom that the body is out of alignment. I'll repeat that, a crook back, neck or shoulder is a symptom; a symptom that bones are out of alignment, a symptom that muscles somewhere are weak, a symptom that muscles somewhere are too tight. That's why the crunch, rub down and ray lamp at the point where it's sore are inadequate treatments and destined not to provide a lasting solution to the real problem.

Misalignment

Actually, as an ecosystem the body tolerates quite a degree of misalignment before there is any pain at all, and ironically, most people put up with a lot of pain before they'll do something about it. Usually they want someone to do something to them to fix them up. That's a nonsense; you have to do something to yourself.

If you're stronger than the average bear your musculature will support misalignment for longer than if you're weak. Hence the injunction to keep your body strong and to have a regular and systematic strength training program. Very few people got stronger sitting in a chair in a surgery, and fewer people had their strength measured in the surgery either.

The good news

The good news is that fixing the problem is neither rocket not medical science either. Just spend a bit of time each day doing the right exercises and in 6 - 8 weeks you should be feeling much better.

Of course it doesn't work in all cases, but there's an 80% chance for 80% of people that they can get themselves back to 80% of good nick if they're diligent.

GET A SECOND OPINION

What I do applies as much to organisations as individuals.

The next time someone slaps a claim form on your desk, with a supporting letter from a doctor stating that 'work' was the cause of the problem, send them to me. I'll give you a second opinion.

(If your organisation is not located in Canberra give me a hoy and I'll let you know when next I'm in your area.)

Here's what I'll do.

1.

I'll talk to your staff member about the likely cause(s) of their dysfunction.

2.

I'll measure their risk of musculo-skeletal dysfunction.

3.

I'll take them through a diagnostic process.

4.

I'll teach them some of the key the exercises they need to do to get themselves back in alignment.

The therapy is based on two simple principles.

a.

Muscles pull bones out of alignment. That’s the bad news. The good news is that you can train your muscles to pull bones back into alignment.

b.

The cause of the pain is rarely at the site of the pain. The rub down, crunch and ray lamp at the spot where it hurts is unlikely to provide you with lasting relief.

5.

They'll receive a workbook with the exercises in it.

6.

I'll prepare an audit report which I'll send to you.

Your staff member will come away with

a good idea of what's caused their dysfunction

a training program to do at home each night. If they're diligent and persistent, they should be feeling much better in 6 - 8 weeks. However, they must be diligent and persistent otherwise it's all just more time and money poured down the black hole.

You'll come away with a report that you can send off to your insurer and which may or may not be a variance with those reports they've already got. In the long run it could save you a fortune.

The Bush Doctrine

Based on the Bush Doctrine, you could make a pre-emptory strike. I'll show you the exercises you need to do to save yourself from becoming dysfunctional in the first place.

(If you're not located in Canberra give me a hoy and I'll let you know when next I'm in your area.)

CROOKBACK CLINIC PRINCIPLES

The program is based on two key principles:

1.

It's a big ask expecting to get better by having someone do something to you; sooner or later you have to do something to yourself.

2.

Therapy speeds up the rehab process but doesn't take the place of that which you need to do for yourself.

The fee is $220 for the one hour session and audit report.

SPEED UP THE REHAB PROCESS

I'll also introduce your staff member to Estuarado Pazmino. I recommend a couple of massage sessions with him, to speed up the rehab process. He knows where to go looking for the cause of the problem and his work and mine are complementary.

QUALIFICATIONS

I'm a graduate physical educator and registered fitness practitioner. Just to let you know I'm not pulling your leg, here's the link to CrookBack website.

CrookBack Clinic

In the mean time stay tuned, highly tuned, and remember, very few people every got their back fixed up in a surgery. In fact very few people got the cause of their dysfunction diagnosed in a surgery or a radiologists rooms either. (They got the dysfunction diagnosed - you've got a crook back!! - but not the cause of the dysfunction. And if you can't diagnose the cause of the problem how can you prescribe the right treatment?

Regards
