Score

Print out the survey then circle the numbers appropriate to the degree to which you experience the symptoms listed in the 30 questions. If you never get them, score ‘0’. If you get them a lot, score high. A good score is a low score. A poor score is a high score.

Here's what I do

In just about every seminar I run I get participants to complete the index. Then I compute the results and get a graph.

It looks like this.

THE GOOD - average score 51

THE BAD - average score 75

THE UGLY - average score 84

So what do these graphs tell you.

The lower the score the better. The score of a fit and healthy person is less than 20. Anything under 40 is not bad. Once anyone gets a score over 80 there's a fair chance they're not fit and/or they're not happy. The head is definitely connected to the body.

In this table the results of over 950 people have been collated. Any score of 5 or more was rated as a symptom, issue or concern.

Not good to see that 55% of people had some sort of musculo-skeletal dysfunction just waiting to turn into a workers compensation claim, plus how can you perform at your best when your back's aching?

Not good to see the amount of metabolic dysfunction as represented by a lack of aerobic fitness, lack of energy, poor sleep and tight trousers.

Not good to see that 30% were in the wrong job and just as many felt under-appreciated at work.

It makes you wonder doesn't it? What does the profile of your staff look like?

So how does it work?

I can provide you with a report like this after any seminar presentation.

Or I can come and sit in your office and take people through the survey one at a time. It's confidential, participants receive some counselling along the way. If you want the blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol done at the same time I'm happy to oblige. That's easy. If you want me to measure aerobic fitness, strength and flexibility, that's easy too. You'll get a nice, rounded, holistic view of your staff's health if you do that.

You get a report, no names, just the graphs and the table. If things are good then it's time for the head patting and a bag of lollies. If the results are not good then you can set about making them better. This includes doing things for groups and individuals.

How well are your managers managing?

You can tell that by looking at the graphs.

If it's good, more pats on the head. If it's not good you can do something about it.

IN A NUTSHELL

In a nutshell the Health, Fitness and Wellbeing index will provide you with a very good snap shot of the over-all wellbeing of your staff ands clues as to what you can do to improve it.

What you can do is use this survey to unlock the gate to boosting your staff's morale, section by section.
